This one-day CPD workshop, facilitated by Cabby Laffy and Polly McAfee is for any therapists who wish to explore helping clients recover sexually after sexual violence.
Some therapists may feel able to work with trauma but feel uncertain about broaching the topics of sex and sexuality. Others may have psychosexual skills but feel less confident to work with the relational aspects of recovery. This workshop will explore how to support clients to regain a sense of sex as pleasure and reclaim their sexual self-esteem.
We will provide educational material, experiential exercises to explore issues, and discussion in small groups and in the full group.

This 8-day certificate course is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists who have qualified in working with individuals or couples or other forms of relationship – who would now like to take an additional training for more confidence and knowledge to work with sexual difficulties.
The course is designed for therapists to begin this training without any prior experience of working with psychosexual topics. However, those practitioners who already work with couples or relationship issues may find this a useful additional layer of learning, by adding further dimensions to this work.
All students must be qualified as a counsellor, psychotherapist, clinical psychologist, psychiatrist, or in a related professional field. This assumes an understanding of the basic tenets of establishing safety and containment in therapy in order to provide a secure base for working with couples and other forms of relationship where there can be testing dynamics to be navigated with ethical competence by the therapist.
